Andrew Skurman received his Bachelor of Architecture in 1976 from Cooper Union in New York City. He began his design career apprenticing with the New York firm of I.M. Pei & Partners from 1976 to 1980. He then worked in the San Francisco office of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill as a Senior Associate from 1980 to 1987 and then as a Studio Director at Gensler and Associates in both San Francisco and Los Angeles until 1992 when he founded Andrew Skurman Architects in San Francisco. His expertise lies in the elegant and refined expression of Classical architecture and the interpretation of French, Georgian, and Mediterranean architectural styles.

He is currently working on projects in Northern and Southern California, New York, Nevada, France, India, China, Japan, Australia, Israel, and Poland. He designed the Resort at Pelican Hill on the Newport coast in Southern California and redesigned the Wattis Room at the Louis M. Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco. He worked on the reconfiguration and restoration of the Salon Doré, an 18th-century French period room, at the California Palace of the Legion of Honor Museum, and was recently commissioned to design a building at Harvard University.

Mr. Skurman has received the honor of being named a Chevalier of Arts & Letters by the Minister of Culture of France. He is a Director Emeritus of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art. In 2013, he was a visiting artist-in-residence at the American Academy in Rome and was Creative Director of the San Francisco Fall Antique Show from 2008-2013. The firm has received five Julia Morgan Awards from the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art, Northern California.
